Notes
Maria went to Kishaike to teach about Focused antenatal care, explain mama kit, and also explain antenatal card. The VHT started the meeting as usual with a word of encouragement and the prayer was made by Rose then he invited Maria to say something to the members. Maria started by thanking all members for coming and introduced the topic as focused antenatal care, mama kit, and also explain the antenatal card. The discussion started by defining the term Antenatal care, the activities done on every visit, explain in detail what is in a mama kit, and also explain the antenatal card. Kiiza a mother raised a concern on a mama kit saying that some don’t have all things that the doctors need in hospital, she continued and said that it seems doctors remove some things. “Mama kits differ in prices, most mama kits are expensive because they contain most of the things like cotton, gauze, razor blade, overall, socks, among others so the more content in a mama kit the higher the price” said Maria. Members together with Maria still shared some of the activities done during antenatal care and mentioned them TT vaccination, total blood check up, among others and Maria advised the men present in the meeting to always support their wives to get antenatal care. “Inside a mama kit, you will find an antenatal card which will help you and your doctor with the records concerning your health” Said Maria. The meeting ended with a word of prayer from Mr Ayusi.
