Notes
When Tom arrived in the village of Buluvu, he found when one of the vhts recently lost her grand daughter and some of the mourners were still in her home. Tom visited the home to pay his respects. Later the chairman of the village Mr Muyangu offered to take Tom around the village to show him some of the improvements being made in hand washing as well as maintaining the sanitation standards by constructing new latrines, dish racks etc. they started off from the trading center and Tom was encouraged to find that all homes in the trading center had latrines and some were embracing hand washing by constructing the Hand washing stands. He saw recently constructed latrines and new pits being dug for new latrines. In every home they visited, residents were happy to see Tom and appreciated the work kibo did in the village through the sanitation and hygiene program. Tom encouraged them to also embrace hand washing and improve on it drastically because its one of the ways through which diseases in homes can be controlled. Tom and the chairman also met with one of the Manson’s in the village who is helping to construct the hand washing stands. They advised him to charge fairly affordable prices because it was reported that most residents were complaining about the charges of constructing the hand washing stand. After the meeting, he agreed to lower the charges and the chairman committed to moving around the village encouraging the residents to buy cement and call the Manson to construct the stand for them at a lower cost. After Buluvu, Tom passed by Namulu village to also witness the triggering Enock and Kenneth were making in the village. It went well and the community of Namulu was very appreciative for the sensitization about sanitation and hygiene.
