Notes
Diana went to Nawaandyo B, to continue with the lesson of school drop outs. Khamadi welcomed every one and requested Sofia to open the meeting with the word of prayer. He thanked everyone for attending and told them to pay a keen ear to every lesson that is being taught to them. Isabirye Peter the Chairman thanked the commuinty empowerment for changing the community of Nawandyo B, with the impacting lessons that have greatly changed their lives and families. He says that nowdays, his wife kneels to greet him and while serving him food or tea, which was not the case before. His family lives in love and respect. Diana was happy to receive such compliment and also to hear this testimony. Diana encouraged the community to continue with this spirit in the cimmunity. It will keep their community healthy. Diana asked them what they remember from the previous lesson, Susan said that she remebers the lesson of school dropouts, Diana asked her what she understands with school dropouts. Susan said it is when someone fails to complete school. Diana thanked her for the correct answer and encouraged the rest of the members to continue to participate, Khamadi said that, hunger can make children drop out of school, John said that long distance is also another cause of school dropouts. Diana added on that it is true, when parents take their children to distant schools, they end up losing interest in school, or join bad groups, hence making them dropout of school. Diana went on to say that poor academic performances can make some children drop out of school. This is because they can be mocked by fellow children, Kiige said that the age of the child can make them drop out of school. Diana added on saying it is true, this is because some children take long to go to school or they are slow learners, this makes them to be mocked by fellow chikdren, hence making them drop out of school. Diana continued the discussion and told the community that, school drop outs has effects on the lives of the children and the community at large, the children can turn out to be a nuisance in th communitythat is, indulging in theft or drugs, early marriages, when children lose hope most especially girls, they seek solace by getting married, they also turn to be sucidal, Diana told them of a story about her friend Susan way back in Primary seven, she passed on before sitting for her Primary leaving Exams because her womb was raptured by the boy friend. Diana looked at the reaction of the community members which turned them in a sombre mood. Khamadi called upon the community to keep watch and love over their children to avoid such incidances. Diana went on with the discussion and told them that she will handle solutions and introduce the lesson of early marriages to them.
