Maria went to Kishaike to teach about Immunization.
The VHT welcomed and thanked everyone for turning up, Naigaga opened the meeting with a word of prayer, then Maria was invited to say some thing to the community members.
Maria thanked all members for coming and encouraged women to always come in the meeting with their husbands so that they can get knowledge as a couple, she then introduced the topic as immunization.
Members together with Maria discussed the topic immunization starting with the definition, benefits of immunization to the child and the family at large, what hinders mother from taking their children for immunization and the different types of shots given, where and when the shots are given.
Agnes said that the vaccines given to their children are not safe because immediately after immunization the child’s temperature raises, still during the discussion Nabirye said that COVID-19 vaccines are not safe for them, she said that the government want to kill people and then take their land.
Maria further mentioned the different diseases that are vaccinated; polio, tuberculosis, diphtheria, COVID-19, cervical cancer among others, then she told members how the vaccine are given and encouraged members that the vaccines are safe and free. The child will have that fever for just hour and then feel well. The vaccines given are to prevent the diseases and to heal, Maria encouraged members to embrace immunization for the betterment of the own health.
Maria said there is a big difference between the child who got all his or her shots in the right time compared to the one who did not get or finish the shots.
The benefits were also discussed; “the vaccines help in boosting our immune system” said Maria.
The meeting ended with a word of prayer from Amina.
