Village
Butabira
Program
Healthy and Safe Kitchens
Notes
Suzan went to the upper section of the the village and carried out the evaluation process at the remaining homes since some members lived far apart from each other. When she got their, she found some three committee group leaders who agreed to walk with her home to home while evaluating the remaining participants. As they walked, Suzan observed that all the buildings were neatly smeared both from inside and outside and the roofs were well constructed with improved sanitation and hygiene around the homes. Most participants have managed to maintain all their facilities and were found cooking on their fuel efficient stoves. One of the elderly members reported that she’s enjoying to cook on her new stove everyday because it saves firewood, time, cooks faster yet the kitchen stays smokeless. In the process, Suzan kept on encouraging the members to continue maintaining all their facilities as much as possible and to begin scaling out to the neighboring villages, this would also enable them earn some money after building stoves. She also encouraged them to continue meeting as a group which would enable them discuss more ideas on how to continue with the program activities. The members thanked Suzan for the idea shared and they wished each other a happy stay.
