- Irene went to Nawandyo A to teach about Uganda’s major infectious diseases and communicable diseases. The meeting started with a word from the chairman who thanked all the members for turning up for the health lessons, and kibo for the continued support towards the development and improved health in their homes. Irene was then invited to say a word to the members, Irene made a review of the previous lesson and then introduced the lesson of the day as Uganda’s major infectious diseases and communicable diseases. Irene asked the members to mention some of the most infectious diseases these can be through water,food, or Air giving examples of each type and these can be at low levels in a given area,spread rapidly to large number of people,or hit world wide, Irene said. Irene further discussed the examples of communicable diseases like eye infections,hepatitis among others,mode of spread of communicable diseases, physical contact,bites among others and how to minimize the infections through immunization as the major way of minimizing hospitalization and illness. Irene also encouraged the members to practice the routine things like washing hands with soap often,practice safe sex,avoid contact with wild life and making sure their pets are vaccinated. After the discussion members asked questions as related to the lesson of the day.
