Tom made a visit to one of the villages that Luke district a borehole called Bugoba Bukusu to make an assessment of the water needs in the village. Tom met the chairman and two other committee members and introduced himself and the organization. He also mentioned that he was recommended by the district of Luuka. Before meeting and discussing with the chairman and the committee members, he first moved around the village. Tom found out they the village has a borehole and their is another deep borehole recently drilled by the area MP. The resident said it is a deep borehole. Tom also visited the springs they say they collect water from. At the spring they found a group of children collecting water. The water seemed not very clear and they children said the water is used for washing dishes, bathing, and washing clothes. The borehole is not more than a kilometer away from the furthest person at the last end of the village and even though the new borehole recently drilled is in another section, its also close to the residents of Bukusu. Tom after called the district water officer to share his findings and recommendations. Tom suggested that this village was not in critical need of water and he suggested a different place. The water officer right away said actually Bukanga subcounty is not as water stressed as Bukoma and Ikumbya subcounties. He right away said he was to hold a meeting and come up with a new village one for rehabilitation and one for drilling in Luuka. Tom also mentioned that it’s not guarantee that Kibo will work in those villages but if they are considered, Tom would let the water officer know and right away make arrangements for moving forward and working in the villages suggested.
