Notes
As this community braces for the commencement of their community project, contributions from the members have intensified and as Mvule pregram winds up the year, Chris and Alex walyomu visited and met with only the leaders who included, Mrs Norah kasoga ( chairperson), Mr Mujib (secretary), Isembatya( elders councilor), Mr Salumini( treasurer), Mr Farouk( the publicity), Mr Ahmada(the chairman), Mr Gamali ( the vice chairperson) and other members on the committee, the intention was to follow up on the contributions towards their project, registration at the subcounty, prepare them guide them through the process of electing the project committee and distribution of responsibilities among the community members as well. Project contribution, for starters the community passed a budget worth 582,000 shillings for the onions project, they agreed to raise this money through savings where every member shall be saving 500 shillings every wednesday, this is the fourth week when members are saving, they beleive that in three months they will be able to raise the capital needed for their project. Yesterday Chris and Alex walyomu found when leaders had gathered while community members were coming in one by one to hand in their contributions, chris managed to check the books of account and realised that they have so far saved 180,000 shillings, the chairperson mrs Norah was very optimistic that they will raise the required capital by febuary next year and will be able to start their project, mrs norah said members are contributing well. Registration at the subcounty, the community leaders had resolved that for anyone to fully qualify to be a member of the community group, they must have signed in the community constitution and for anyone to sign they must pay 1000 shillings to the treasurer. They beleive this is the only way to raise 55,000 shillings needed to register their community at the sub county however out of 97 members in the constitution, only 30 people have so far signed and consquently the community now has 30,000 shilling for registration and still contributing, chris encouraged the leaders to teach the members about the importance of registering at thebsub county, he said this will help to intensify efforts to contribute money for registration. Project committee, as the community prepares for their project , the mvule program curriculum stipulates that there is a need to select a seven member project committee to spearhead the project activities, chris stated that it was entirely upon the leaders to guide the members through this exercise however chris cautioned the leaders not to recommend inactive and domant leaders, he said this will slow the implemetation of the project, chris said as the program breaks off for chrismas break the leaders are expected to help the community understand the motive of choosing the project committee. Chris told the leaders to also identify roles and responsibilities every members shall play towards the success of the community project. The community leaders led by the chairpern Mrs Norah Kasoga all agreed that indeed selecting the committee for the project very important because it will offload some work from the community leaders to concentrate on other developmental issues, they promised to follow up on the community registration and contributions for the project as well, chris and Alex walyomu wished them a merry Christmas and a happy new year and appealed to them to stay United, love one another and share the little they have with neighbors through this festive season. They proceeded to meet with the sub county leaders of Namutumba sub county to update them about the Kibo activities done so far in the area. The leaders were very happy for the support rendered in the sub county by Kibo group. They appreciated what had been done in Igerera, Ituba village, Namulu and Kisimu. Alex and Chris told the CDO of the next plans in Ituba village starting next year and the community development officer was very happy and would integrate this next plan into next years sub county work plan and thanked Kibo group for its partnership in the sub county. The sub county officials requested Kibo group to extend its services to more villages in the sub county because there is still a great need in many of the villages.
