Notes
Tom made a visit to Kalalu village to check on how well the village has maintained as well as meet village leaders and share with them about the delay in the borehole drilling in the village. This is because there were reports of a few residents starting to say that Kibo may me lied to them because the borehole has not been drilled in the period promised to them. Tom first moved around to check on the sanitation improvements and he was happy to find that many residents have maintained especially the hand washing by putting the jericans on the hand washing stands next to the latrines. Most of the jericans hand been maintained well because they are clean. Tom also noticed some residents who have improved on their existing facilities like latrines and shower areas. In one home, the resident broke down the old shower facility and constructed a new one with cement and bricks. It is much nicer and stronger. Tom used the opportunity to encourage some of the residents who have dirty jericans to always wash them and maintain them clean. Tom after moved to the home of one of the committee members as other members were not present as they had gone to the subcounty. As Tom moved, the residents he met in their homes he used the opportunity to explain to each resident why there has been a delay in the drilling to next year. Every resident Tom shared with, was okay and appreciated Tom for telling them and clarifying on the changes. They said they are eagerly waiting and whenever that will be, they will be happy. Tom encouraged them to encourage each other that will kibo fulfill it’s promise. While at one of the committee members home, he encouraged him to encourage the rest of the village about the changes. Tom also encouraged him to use the break of the Christmas period or meet some of the residents whose facilities need improvements to improve on them. This is because many men will be in the village for Christmas so it’s time to use this period to improve on their homes especially those that need improvements.
