Notes
On arrival Enock walked around this village to first check on the progress of latrine construction and all the improvements taking place and those that have already completed the facilities. Enock teamed with the VHTs and Chairman of this village to also learn how Kibo teaches and works to encourage, assess, evaluate and monitor the standardisation of all the facilities and benefits so that they can also continue teaching the fellow residents even though kibo is not in the village. This is because one of our goals is to see leaders taking the lead with the program of sanitation and hygiene as well as sustainability of the program and for development. The leaders appreciated the cause because it also empowers them to become more educated with the lessons and importance of sanitation. They were able to see two dug pits for about 15ft deep , 3 new rubbish pits, one newly smeared shower area. There is also one new latrine constructed. Despite checking on the progress of latrine construction, Enock also taught the residents the simple methods of constructing hand washing facilities since most of the homes don’t have them. He first made a demonstration in one of the VHTs homes who also said that he will help to teach other residents. CLTS's aim is to teach the residents the core values of using hand washing facilities, the importance of washing hands before eating food and after visiting the latrine. This is to reduce the continuous spread of germs from hands to food and then the mouth.

2681 This boy is called Edirisa Kakaire. He is back for holidays, when he saw his dad finished digging a pit but they haven’t constructed on it. He decided to take the lead and started constructing a latrine structure on it as you see in the picture. This is so amazing to see that even the young boys take the initiative to help their families with work at home and improve on the sanitation and hygiene.
2684 This is also a new dish rack constructed
2687 This is a new pit latrine which is still under construction.
