David , Steven, the three interns Hannah Tyler and Audrey went to Nawandyo A and B . They wanted to show the interns some of the Kibo activities in there. They found when the residents were already waiting for them at their meeting place in nawandyo B under a mango tree. About 89 residents had gathered together waiting for them.. They were happy to see them. They started by hearing from the chairman of the village mr Hamudani mulamogi, who thanked them a lot for loving his village amongst the many villages in namutumba district .After the chairman,s speech he invited the secretary of nawandyo A mr Gasemba Mohamed .He strongly encouraged his neighbours from B to love the sanitation program .He said that the good health is not for the visitors neither for the Kibo staff but it is for their own good .He continued and said that the clean homes would testify that they no longer spend more monies to buy medicine for the diarrhoea cases as it was before . He summarized his speech by inviting and requesting the Kibo staff to give them the Message they had carried for the entire village . Kibo staff started by thanking everyone who had turned up for the meeting, they continued and appreciated the members from Nawandyo A who were teaching their neighbours what they had learnt before in the stoves program as they found when the members from A, were making three stoves in Nawandyo B . Also the Kibo staff encouraged them so much to continue with the cooperation and unity amongst the two neighbouring villages even in the other developmental aspects of life. After the Kibo staff's speech they also invited the visitors Hannah,Audrey and Tyler to say something to the residents. They all encouraged the residents to continue working together. They emphasised much more about every one having the required hygiene facilities to the required standards. After all that one resident raised a hand and requested the visitors about their problem of moving longer distances to where they would get water for their home consumption. They replied him by saying that they would be forwarding his request before the Kibo’s country director. I In addition to the above, they moved in about six homes in nawandyo B which had all the sanitation facilities but the challenges they noted was that most shower areas were affected by the heavy rains. They therefore encouraged the residents to use some cement on the floor of their shower areas. They also moved in the three homes which were lagging behind as far as sanitation improvement is concerned. They found when the two members lbra kibunduka ,and kasimu mpasa were almost finishing with the construction of the walls on their latrines. They encouraged them to work hard by next week to have completed. The other homes was that of Mr waiswa Gideon who had run away abandoning his wife and children for not wanting to construct a latrine. He confessed before them that even where he used to hide and stay there was also another organisation called vidcorm international who were also encouraging people, to have toilets in their homes. He requested the visitors along with Kibo staff for only one week that he will have completed his latrine. They agreed and gave him a grace period of one week before he would get to finish working on his latrine. From there they crossed to Nawandyo A where they saw a lot of Kibo goats and mvule trees and the good sanitation of the different homes. They were all doing well because many goats had produced more than one young one. The members Said that they were going to exchange the goats and get cows. The only challenge the members aired out was that presently many people want to join the mvule group but they don’t want to follow the rules and regulations governing the group. They also saw about three stoves which were made that day. They kept on encouraging those who had not yet got a chance of having a stove, to have all the sanitation facilities in place so that they would qualify to have one. They left the village when the residents were in a meeting to see which members they would elect as their water and sanitation committee members. Generally the hygiene and sanitation standards of nawandyo B village have improved despite the fact of the rains which have affected their shower areas and filling up their rubbish-pits with running water.
