Notes
David and the two interns Joshua and Avery went to budumba to monitor while the contractors from Draco were carrying out the process of pump testing and casting. They found when the Draco contractors had started mixing the aggregates(small stones and cement mixture for the casting process). After the rightful mixture for the casting process, they went ahead and also started on the pump testing process. They started by putting the horse pipe which was connected to the generator inside the borehole pit. the pit was measured about 49 meters up to the screen or last water table . The contractors together with David,Joshua ,water users committee members and Avery wanted to prove to everyone about the depth of that borehole. The contractors started the generator which was connected to the water meter which was helping the technicians to read out the static water level and the dynamic water level to pump out the unclean water for about 3hours . They found out that after one hour already the water had started clearing up from brown to slightly white. After two hours when they were still carrying out the pump testing process ,the water cleared up to pure white and ready for human consumption . The Draco contractors got the following readings with their water meter gauge . The static water level was 10:97 and the dynamic water level was 13:88 . After three hours of test pumping they got the water recovery being 30 meters in 11:00 . They did all that while the other contractor had laid the template of the West water ,on the ground. The community members were mixing the concrete and filling it into the metallic template just to help them attain the best and right design of the channel of the West water. As this was going on, David along with Joshua ,and the water user committee members and Avery called all the area residents who were about 85 for as a-small meeting. They started the meeting by thanking all the the members for working together. Then David invited the two interns Joshua and Avery to briefly introduce themselves and why they were in budumba. They both introduced their names to the residents and told them that the reason why they were there was to learn from them and also to continue experiencing on the unity they have in their village. After those remarks by the interns, Kibo staff David stood up and emphasised more about the water chain process. He started by first of all congratulating them for the success of the clean water and getting rid of the longer distances they used to travel before getting water. He told them that they should also maintain the good hygiene and sanitation standards. This is because the now have clean water, it also required of them to take it to clean homes using the clean jerrycans . David also told them that they should continue working together by having monthly borehole and sanitation improvement meetings always in order to assess how they will be progressing each month.David continued and told them that divided they would fall and united they will continue standing. After the meeting, they came back to the borehole and they found when the large part of the slub had dried up and ready for the contractors to remove the metallic template and getting to start on the finishing work. Because of the heavy rains which were coming David told the contractors to remove that part which was dry for the lnterns Joshua and Avery to see how it looked like as they were doing the finishing. They saw it and it was good and dry. They left the village while the Draco contractors were to do the work of the pipe installation, which was to be done the following day. Otherwise the hygiene and sanitation of the entire community was good meeting the required standards.
