- Introduction
Manuela went to Kivule primary school with the visitors, to sensitize the pupils on the importance of Personal hygiene which is an essential way of promoting good health, like washing hands, brushing teeth, bathing, washing clothing combing hair, maintaining pubic hair, keeping short and clean nails among other, these lessons were to create awareness among pupils so that they can be free from bacteria, virus and illness out of their lives.
Objective
At end of this lesson pupils will be able to know the importance of practising daily personal hygiene.
Overview
Manuela and the visitors arrived at school and they found pupils already seated waiting for their teacher to teach them Life Skills lesson, Manuela started by welcoming the pupils back to school and she told them to also inform others who have not yet started school to start school because lessons are going on.
After the brief remarks, She went on and gave the chance to the visitors to also introduce them selves, this went on good, she then introduced the lessons for the day and it was about personal hygiene, values of education and Discipline for all. Manuela encouraged the pupils to read hard and achieve their goal because she told them that education is the key success, light, it also changes life of an individual and education is freedom.
At the beginning of the session Manuela started by asking the pupils why do they come to school and what they want to be in future, some pupils shared their goals for example, some pupils said that they want to become doctors, nurses, pilots lawyers and teachers, Manuela encouraged them to read hard and always consult their teachers in case they have any challenge with their studies.
After that she talked about the importance of personal hygiene, which involved brushing our teeth, bathing, among others. Manuela told them that if they practice personal hygiene, they will be free from bacteria, virus and germs. She ended by encouraging the pupils to always respect their fellow pupils, their parents and their teachers. Then she gave the chance to Lorna to also encourage the pupils and the visitors also did the same. Lorna emphasised on Discipline as the only way to succeed. She encouraged them to respect both their parents and teachers as she also quoted the scripture which says that,Respect your parents/ elders and you will leave long. This is the only command with a promise. She told them to concentrate on their studies and leave the issue of school fees to their parents. When they pass well, this will motivate their parents to pay their school fees. The visitors also encouraged the pupils to read hard and Danny Cargnet encouraged the pupils to use the words "YES I CAN" whenever they feel things are hard.
At the end of the session Manuela gave the pupils an assignment about Communication Skills. This will be the next topic to be taught.
