Enock and Martin went to this village to check on the latrine construction, dish racks, shower areas, kitchen area, rubbish pits. The focus was on mobilization of the residents, checking sanitation and hygiene improvements and encouraging, evaluating the latrine percentage. In the homes that are in the trading centre, we saw one new latrine constructed and remaining four homes without proper latrines. We visited those homes to ask which plans they have to dig deep latrine and also have proper structures on them. In two homes, they asked for pick axes right away to start digging new pits and the other homes they are waiting to sell off some harvest to get money and pay off someone to dig for them new latrine pits. We encouraged them to dig deep latrine which will last them longer and saver time to be productive in other economic activities or agricultural activities to develop there homes. We also continued encouraging the residents on the importance and benefits of having proper sanitation as well as the challenges that result due to poor hygiene and consequences of even loosing their beloved ones due to open defection which cause diseases like cholera, dysentery, diarrhea, trachoma and more. After Martine and Enock divided them selves to go to different sections of this village. This was because they wanted to reach a good number of homes to mobilize them for the coming general meeting for the whole village which will take place on 1st August 2018. The residents embraced the program and getting ready for the upcoming meeting. In the meeting we shall be talking about the time period of accomplishment of the program so that people are accountable to it. This will help to boost, accelerate the momentum of the residents to construct all their facilities in time. In addition we encouraged the residents to construct sustainable facilities to avoid repeating the same mistakes of constructing poor facilities that will break in few months.
