Notes
Alex had earlier planned to have a general meeting with all the community members that are to benefit from this new borehole but this didn’t happen since many of the community members had to leave for a funeral when one of the village members lost a relative in another nearby community. However Alex was able to meet with some water user committee members and showed them how to construct a standard borehole fence. He was able to look at the poles that had been gathered and to be used to construct a fence. Some of the poles didn’t meet the standards and Alex shown them the right size of poles to be used. He also directed them on how to dig a good size of a soak pit to be dug and also will have to construct a fence around the soak pit filled with stones. The standard size of a fence is one construed 2ft off the platform to prevent damaging the platform and the soak pit also has to be constructed 2ft from the drainage channel. Alex will go back to supervise what the community shall have done and whether it meets the standards as they were told by Alex. He will also continue to discuss together with the community through the borehole management ways and all the roles and responsibilities. He will also guide the community as they form the borehole bylaws that helps them to take good care of the borehole
