Notes
Today Enock and Martin went to this community to check on latrine construction, dish rack, shower areas, kitchen area, rubbish pits, emphasize and encouraging the community to work hard. They met with the local leaders to team up and mobilize the residents to come for the general meeting on the next visit. We divided up to go to so that we can reach a good percentage of the village. They walked around while texting, teaching, monitoring and encouraging the residents to work hard and improve their sanitation. It was nice to see how many people are responding to the program and their are some new facilities under construction. Enock went to the section towards the trading centre home that are surrounded by it. He had names of the residents who didn’t have latrines and was moving around asking them to come for the upcoming general meeting. The data collected showed many people out side the trading center didn’t have latrines. We emphasized and put more effort to start focusing on the people without latrines. We showed the residents how poor their sanitation is and encouraged everyone in this community to come for the meeting because in the meeting, we shall be asking questions why some people have not been responding. Although some people lost their latrines due to heavy rainfall, they have the responsibility to reconstruct and rebuild strong facilities in their homes. During the follow up, they saw 5 new rubbish pits, 6 new dish racks, 3 new latrine pits being dug, one new shower area. The people have started being more responsible and encouraging their fellow residents to to improve on their sanitation and hygiene levels. This will help them to reduce diseases like diarrhea, trachoma, dysentery, cholera which may even result to death and losing their beloved ones. Enock and Martin encouraged the leaders to also act more responsible, work exemplary and encourage their fellow residents to work hard on their sanitation.
