Notes
David and Steven went to bukudumira to prepare the community for the borehole repair. When the Kibo staff reached the village they first met with the water user committees at the lower section for the both boreholes making sure all the money they were asked to raise they had it at hand before the borehole was to be repaired. The Kibo staff said that, the both boreholes needed a community contribution of 500,000 shillings before the repair on both boreholes. The Kibo staff were expecting to do the repair sometime next week. The meeting started by the Kibo staff hearing from the borehole treasurer Budhala wakudumira from bukudumira 1who showed them the 220000 shillings they had so far contributed . He said initially they had raised the full amount of 250000 shillings as it was required from them ,but because of some simple repair s they had used the 20000 shillings to buy the eight bolts and the valves .Therefore because of that reason Badhala Wakudhumira told the Kibo staff that they will be raising the balance in two days before the repair day. In the same after the first treasurers speech the vice chairman of the other borehole also gave a brief report about the stand of their contributions. He said ,that they had 140000 shillings as their borehole contributions but he promised the Kibo staff that in four days they would have got the remaining balance of 110000 shillings because everyone seemed to be involved and interested by the the time David and Steven were in the village.David and Steven also continued encouraging all the residents to be part of the borehole contribution. The Kibo staff, David and Steven also gave their remarks by saying, that the other members who were present should appreciate the two committees for the great work and efforts towards their borehole contributions. They also encouraged all the members to continue working together not to for get to maintain the required hygiene standards. Margret waiswa confessed that her children who used to disturb her a lot by getting sick ,these days they no longer fall sick time after time. For that note the Kibo staff emphasized all the community members to maintain the required high standards of hygiene and sanitation ,so that they would be in position to reduce on the diarrheal diseases .On addition to that the Kibo staff moved together with some two committee members to check and asses the final status of their hygiene and sanitation of the entire village. In general according to the Kibo,s assessment the coverage of the latrine ,dish-racks ,shower area and the hand washing facility ,kitchens were good . Therefore David and Steven emphasized much about high facility sanitation standards always. David and Steven left the village hoping to hear clear communication from the two water user committees when they hope to have got the remaining balance before the coming borehole repair.
