- Notes
- Alex was in Bukudhumira to have a meeting with all the water users of the borehole located at Nawaikona P/S. This borehole serves mostly the school and the school is comprised of about 600 kids that attend school and about 20 homes around the school. Alex met with water user committee members, the school head mistress and some community members. Together they discussed why it was important for everyone to be responsible towards the borehole and each knowing that has to equally play a great role at the borehole. The head mistress of the primary school was very bitter in the meeting because the people that surround the school and get water from this well don’t want to contribute money for the well repair but leave it to the school to do 100%.
This time round the school head teacher told all the people to be a part of the process to get their borehole fixed. The school will no longer be the only one to pay the money for the borehole repair. Alex reminded everyone to be responsible enough because the well benefits everyone in the community and it therefore need all of the community people to equally play an important role and contributing money for the borehole. This is very important because it shows that there is community ownership and that every body minds about the borehole.
Alex encouraged everyone to always remember that the borehole belongs to everyone and so each one of the village people needs to play an equal role ensuring that the borehole is working at all times and very important to own the well. Alex will go back for another training of the water user committee and prepare the community before the borehole repair. The school head teacher thanked Kibo group for accepting to help fix the borehole because this borehole almost breakdown every week because of the bad type of pipes.
