- Notes
- Today Enock went to this village to continue checking on latrine construction and presence, dish racks, shower areas, rubbish pits among other facilities. His focus was mainly on standardization of all the facilities, sustainability, importance of proper sanitation and hygiene as well as maintenance of all facilities case in point use of as in the latrines to chase flies which move/transfer germs from one place to another hence causing continuous diseases such as diarrhea, trachoma, dysentery, cholera which may lead to death or loss of lives for their community members or families.
He also continued sensitizing the residents about the values, importance of good latrine foundation, this is because when the base or foundation is firm, the structure stands firm with collapsing due to heavy rainfall and strong winds. The residents had similar example of loss of latrine due to poor foundation. This gave them a great lesson to learn and construct good standard facilities to save time and resources to do other thing. While walking home to home, he was discussing with the residents about the benefits of good sanitation and hygiene and the continuous dangers caused due to open defecation leading to poverty and a lot of medical expenses. He argued the community members to be united, cooperative and encourage everyone in this village to have a good latrine and look uniform. The community members are embracing the program by accepting to improve their sanitation. He continued to guide the community members on behavioral change through establishing or constructing facilities which promote their dignity in their families and relatives. Enock encouraged the family heads to be examples to their children and portray a good picture to the young generation to learn from them through promoting good sanitation and hygiene in homes.
