Notes
Harriet,Suzan and Tape went to Bulange sub county with the purpose of meeting the community development officer to introduce the Healthy and safe kitchen program to him and share with him the intended plan to implement the program in Buluvu Village. Unfortunately they did not find him in the office, they tried to reach him on phone but it was off. They decided to go to Buluvu village since it was recommended by the water and sanitation hygiene department. On arriving the village, Kibo staff met one of the community members who welcomed them and later led them to the L.C 1. They were offered a sit under a mango tree where they sat calmly as they waited for other members to come. A few members from the community who had previously heard about Kibo group to gather with some local leaders came for the meeting after they were mobilized by the l.c 1. In the meeting, Harriet welcomed the members and also let each of the other Kibo staff members introduce themselves. After the community members and the local leaders introduced themselves , Harriet briefly introduced the program to the members, she talked about its intentions and how it would benefit them in their community. The members got so excited on hearing about the program and promised to attend each lesson of the healthy and safe kitchen program that would be taught by Kibo staff. This was very important because the community leaders need to be aware of any program carried out within their community and also know their roles in it. This would also quicken the mobilization process whenever Kibo staff was to go back to the village for more lessons. Later on, the members led Kibo staff to a few homes with the intention of monitoring wether some people were using the three stone stove and also to see if each home had the requirements needed before building an energy saving stove such as a bathroom, latrine, rubbish pit and a well built kitchen. Kibo staff also reached the new borehole which was found very neat and well kept by the members. There after, the members together with Kibo staff came together and agreed on the date that they would meet for the next meeting which will be on Wednesday. Kibo staff thanked the members for their time with them and left the village.
