Notes
Tom arrived in the village and met with the village leaders and shared with them about Kibo’s intentions in the village. They said they don’t remember kibo in the village but they were very happy to have an NGO come to their village. Tom met with two chairmen, the one for kalitumba and isita village. The chairman from isita is a brother to the chairman of kalitumba and they are neighbors. When the chairman in isita saw Tom, he came and joined the meeting and expressed his desire for the program as well. Later the sub-county health inspector joined them and also emphasized and talked about kibo. He also pointed out that kibo is registered with the district and is legally working in the village. He also encouraged them to work closely with kibo to improve their sanitation and hygiene standards. Tom moved around in a few homes to check on their sanitation and hygiene levels but found that out of the 8 homes he visited, only three had latrines. Tom and the inspector encouraged the chairman to work with kibo to improve their sanitation and hygiene. Both were very receptive and happy for the program and said they are eager to work with kibo and the government. Tom later took the inspector back to the sub-county and left for jinja.
