Notes
This village has been frequently visited by 3 WASH staff members Enock, Martin and Tom. Alex had taken long not visiting this village and he went to follow up on the homes that were still lagging behind. He had a list of the people that was provided by the common faces from Kibo Enock and Martin. This village can’t get to the next step of a new borehole that is needed before they meet our Kibo standards in hygiene and sanitation standards. Alex together with two sanitation committee members first visited the homes in the lower part of the village near Bugiri SDA primary school. There they visited Tibita Thomas and found him when he had worked on his new pit latrine structure but only left to finish with the roof and putting a good door. He promised to finish it and the dish rack in 3 days. Dawson Sebakaki, an old man finished to dig his pit and was found stamping the mud to be used to make bricks that he would use to build a good structure and he and his wife promised to complete everything in one week. Kirya Steven finished to build his pit latrine structure however it was not meeting the standards and he was advised to do more and come up with a good structure. They also went to visit a section in the village called mukinhole where there is a large family of more than 20 people but have no pit latrine to use. The biggest challenge with this family is that they have been trying to dig up pits but they kept on collapsing whenever it rained and also they have a small piece of land. They have been helped by a good neighbor who provided them a piece of land to construct a new pit latrine. They have so far constructed about 8 ft and they were encouraged to dig 25ft because of their big size in the family. He visited Bashir a son to the village chairman who had not yet completed his pit latrine and was also given one week to finish all that is missing in his home. In total Alex and the group reached 25 homes and many of the people have all the facilities in the home. On a very good note, the village has progressed very well so far with majority of the people having many of the facilities in place and Alex was very happy to see many new strong dish racks and new pit latrines that have been constructed in the village. Talking to many people that Alex met in the village, they thank Kibo group for helping them lifting the village from the bad state that the village was in to now what it is. Many people in the village that never had pit latrines and other facilities have got them now and they are proud of what they are now and now know the values of all those facilities in a home. The Wash team is planning to carry out a final evaluation in the village before the next step of borehole drilling. Meanwhile the wash team will continue to follow up on those few remaining homes that are yet to meet the requirements.

There are great improvements in all the sanitation areas in the village. The people in the village are very happy that their village has reached this step because they all confess that their village was very bad two years ago before Kibo joined this village.
