- Notes
- Harriet made a surprise visit to Budumba village with a purpose of finding whether the participants use stoves on daily basis or they have issues with them.Harriet together with the group decided to walk home to home looking at the stoves and check whether participants were using them on daily basis.
Most of the participants who got stoves at the beginning of the program were being used on daily basis and they said that the stoves have helped them to save firewood, eliminate smoke in the kitchen as well as enable them to cook fast since the stoves cooks two things at ago.
There was also a complaint of two members who were built stoves by the group. They said that their stoves were not cooking well because they contained smoke in the kitchen. Harriet went a head and checked on those stoves and she found that when the group was removing banana stems they left one banana stem in the hole that takes out smoke. Harriet asked the group to bring a shovel , she tried to remold the stove to re- create a hole for the Chimney but the stoves were too dry and hard to penetrate. She told the group to destroy the stove and do a better one with her guidance.
The owner of the group together with the community rebuilt one new stove as she told them to remove all the banana stems . She also encouraged them to always look at complete stoves when ever they are taking out banana stems for guidance and avoiding mistakes.
They thanked Kibo for being patient with them and being polite to them despite the many mistakes they have so far done. They also asked Kibo to always check on them in order to detect early mistakes.
