Notes
Harriet picked the the community development officer, the parish chief from Buhemba Sub County to sinde / Namayombe village. The goal was for them to witness what Kibo has done in the village so that the Community Development Officer would base on she has had and seen to write a recommendation letter that will enable Kibo to sign memorandum of understanding with Namayingo District as well as certificate to allow Kibo to officially work in the district. They found when the participants had already gathered at the home of an old woman that they had chose to get a stove. The said they chose this old woman to get a stove though she has passively participated in the Healthy and Safe kitchen program because she is weak and old but has been attending meetings. They also said that because Kibo taught them how to love each other they also decided to show love to this old woman. The CDO interviewed some of the participants in this village and the interview was intended to prove whether Kibo worked in their village. Harriet did not say any thing but the community told her that Kibo begun by teaching them about sanitation and hygiene and their values. Because they also wanted to leave in a hygiene environment and to get rid of diseases they built all the home facilities. Then Kibo gave them a surprise of water well because the community was water stressed, their homes were already clean so they needed clean water to bring in the clean homes. They also told her that Kibo later own tought them how to plant durable Mvule trees in order to prepare for the future generation, Kibo gave each member a tree which they planted. After every member was given a goat to take care of home development and most members who got goats have more than two goats. They added that Kibo is also teaching them the Bible and Healthy lessons that have enabled them to improve on their spiritual and personal hygiene as well understand each other in marriage in order to solve family challenges that arises. The community also told her that Kibo group is also teaching them how to build fuel efficient stoves that enable them to use less firewood , eliminate smoke in the kitchens, case of fire accidents as well as domestic violence cases a-raising out of delayed meals. The group led the government officials to look at the home facilities, stoves, Mvule trees goats as well as the well that Kibo dug for them. They later went to the meeting place and the community build one stove as Kibo guides them. The CDO was very impressed with what she saw and the stories she had the community tell. She thanked Kibo for unique approach of empowering them with a skill of doing things on their own and more being able to involve both men and women. she ranked this village as the most organized village in the whole of Buhemba Sub County and thanked Kibo for the lead. She also told the community that since they are already organized she will work with them to achieve more government programs. She also encouraged Kibo to always involve the government in all the programs they implement in the district so that they can also give reports to the districts. She also asked Kibo to write and submit impact assessment report so that she can also base on that report and what she has seen to write a recommendation letter to the District Community Development Officer for the renewal of the certificate and memorandum of understanding.
