Kigalama B has had challenges because of the local leaders who don't care about the development of their community. They have decided to forget about the local leaders and work hand in hand with Kibo programs.

Notes
Ida went to Kigalama B and taught about the three kinds of feeds that are to be given to chickens at different stages. There are three types of feeds. 1 Chic and Duck mash 2. Growers Mash 3 Layers Mash These feeds are given at different stages according to the days(Age) of the chics one has. Chic and Duck Mash is given to chics from day one to week eight(local chickens) And this is the recipe or ingredients. CHICK AND DUCK MASH: Maize brand........................................62 kgs Cotton seed cake................................25kgs Silver fish (Mukden).............................10 kgs Shells (amasonko)................................2kgs Pre mix(general purpose).....................0.5gms Salt........................................................0.5 gums These feeds each has a different value: Maize brand gives proteins and vitamins. Cotton seed cake gives carbohydrates Shells help strengthen the bones and also makes the outer cover (shell) strong. Silver fish also gives protein. Pre mix has all sorts of food values that one may have missed due to the poor feeds in stock. Salt makes food tasty and also preserves. They also looked at how important and best to mix feeds on our own. The people who sell the feeds that already mixed, don't mind of quality but quantity. Most times they mix feeds with less and poor ingredients which leads to loss of chicks and poor quality.Water is very important to the chicks and water has no overdose Water is served from a drinker and shouldnt be mixed with the feeds. The next feed is GROWERS MASH This is given to chicks from week nine (9)to week twenty (20)and this is the recipe: Maize brand ............70kgs Cotton seed cake........20kgs Silver fish.............07kgs Shells (masonko)........02kgs Premix (general purpose).0.5kg Salt....................0.5kg The food values are the same. Water is important and should be given in plenty. Ida will continue with feeds mixture next time.
