Notes
Tom made a visit to kishaike village to meet and discuss with the village leaders about the sanitation and hygiene standards in the village as well as informing the leaders about Kibo’s intentions to work in the village especially in the area of sanitation and hygiene. When Tom reached in the village, he found the chairman had briefly gone to the sub-county for some official work. Tom waited for him and after a short while, he returned and mobilized some leaders who joined them later in the meeting. But before the meeting started, Tom asked the chairman about the sanitation levels in the village. He said even though there have been some improvements in the area of sanitation, there are still many homes that have no latrines as well as other facilities. The chairman of the village and Tom decided to move around the village in some homes as well as,seeing some new pits under construction. As they moved, they were able to see two new pits one of 8ft and another of 25ft. Tom also saw some old structures and many structures that don’t meet the standards as well as open defecation in several homes. When they came back to the meeting, the chairman of the village expressed his thanks towards kibo for its desire to go and help the sanitation and hygiene in his village. One vht in the village also thanked kibo for going to his village and he has had challenges in getting some homes to improve. He greatly hopes that this will help uplift the sanitation levels and standards in the village. Tom also thanked the village leaders and promised to go back and discuss more about how to move forward with triggering especially discussion about the appropriate date as well as location of the triggering session.
