Notes
Tom made a visit to budumba village to check on homes that had not finished there facilities during the final evaluation as well as having a village meeting with the village leaders. When Tom arrived in the village, he found when there was another village meeting going on. Tom was welcomed well by the residents that were apart of that meeting. Before the meeting with the residents, Tom and one vht moved around to check on some of the homes that had not finished there facilities. But they first started with checking on the borehole. The borehole had a good fence and it’s drainage pit as well. After checking on the borehole, Tom and the vht visited several homes on the lower section. They found two new recently constructed latrines as well as some shower facilities. In Mr Charles’ home, they found when he had finished a new latrine as well as a new shower facility. There were two homes that there latrines had collapsed during the rainy season but one of the residents has already started on anew latrine. In the section near the trading center, Tom found two latrines newly constructed as one was being roofed. Tom thanked the resident for replacing the latrine as it’s very important. After Tom came back to the meeting and he was given the opportunity to speak to the residents. During his speech, he thanked the committee for taking good care of the borehole as well as maintaining sanitation and hygiene. He also thanked the vht for taking the initiative to always moving around the village sensitizing residents about sanitation improvements. On the list of the residents that did not have latrines before the third evaluation, Tom encouraged the committee members to also follow up on there improvements. Tom said he would come back and make a final evaluation in the village especially those homes before the village is handed back to the government/district. The vht and the chairman requested that kibo gives the residents another short time and that together with the committee they will make sure that those homes improve before the final update.
