caring for trees
Notes
Alex B met the members of the group that planted the trees from kibo group. They discussed how to care for them during dry season when there is no rain. They noticed that there need for the trees to be watered. They suggested that to water their trees during dry season in a way which is the best. The thought of two options, one to dig around the trees were water can be poured and another aplastic bottle for dripping. The alternative of watering by pouring around mostly that is what people preferred. They thought as since kibo group gave them a borehole which is working in the community, they will use that water for their trees. They agreed to be doing it when it is not raining. The watering should be done in the morning and evening. That alternative does not take a lot of time since they could get it in a container. The issue of checking with their trees was considered as on their Daly duties. Alex B advised them to do the watering, put hedges that protect them from being destroyed by children or animals. He also told them to visit one another and see how they are caring for their trees,to observe as they look at the leaves for any black spot as it is one of the signs for diseases. He told them not try goats or cattle near their trees because they will eat off the leaves and at the end they will dry.He reminded them as water should be free from salt or soap. The burning of fire should not be near the trees.
