To follow up on the sanitation progress
David was in kigalama village . His intention of going there was to follow up on the borehole and village’s sanitation status. As David was in the village he first visited the borehole which was drilled by Kibo. However David found when the borehole status was well maintained . Even the people who were at the borehole had clean jerrycans. David also had some queer noise out of the borehole while the people were pumping the borehole. He advised and demonstrated for the members who were at the borehole how they should be pumping the borehole.
After all that David went to Mr Batusa’s home . The chairman of the borehole he reported about the issue of the ball bearings which were causing the funny noise. Mr Batista said that he had already noticed that problem and he was proposing to have a village general borehole meeting . He told David that for them as the committee they never wanted to use the money they had on their borehole account to buy simple spare parts like ball bearing.
Therefore mr Batusa suggested that the best way to go was to continue contributing money towards their borehole account as it was stated in their borehole bylaws. Hence the coming Saturday was the planned date for their village meeting .
When David was living Batusa’s home he met with Faridah who is the v h t . Faridah joined David and led him to the different homes which were affected by the stronger rains .
When they reached Mwanja lsacc’s home they were happy to find him when he had already roofed his latrine which was affected. They appreciated him and even advised mwanja to extend the same idea of roofing his latrine he used even to the neighbors.
In general the hygiene and sanitation of the entire village was good .Except for the few home which needed to improve on some of their sanitation facilities. Because it was preparing to rain David and the v h t visited the other borehole at kigalama primary school which the Kibo had the school and the community to repair.
On addition to that David visited at the other borehole because he wanted to checkout how was its status. David was happy to find out that was good and well maintained. David reminded the headmaster who was around and he was one of the committee members. He told David that they had 120000 shillings as their borehole contributions. At that very moment also Faridah told David that they had 220000 shillings as their borehole account balance. David advised them to continue contributing money towards their borehole account for the future sustainability of their borehole.
Some muvule members told David that they were doing great with their goats . They said that five members have got cows in exchange with the goats .
