Notes
Tom made a visit to kishaike village to teach and discuss more with the community about the new dish rack design as well as discuss more about shower facility construction and standards. When he reached to the village, he found when only the chairman of the village and two village residents were already present at the meeting place. The chairman advised Tom to wait at the meeting place as they waited for the residents to come. After about 30mins, Tom suggested that instead of waiting under the tree for the residents, they be moving around checking on facilities the residents are doing and the chairman agreed. They started off from the homes around the borehole and they saw two new rubbish pits, a new pit for a latrine and another old latrine being improved on. Later they moved to the lower section where they found four new pits being dug. One pit was already finished and was about 30ft. It was dug in a period of about 2 weeks.another pit was at a depth of 6 ft while others ranged between 3-5ft. Tom was impressed by how the residents have embraced the program. Later they moved back to the meeting place and by this time, the residents had come to a number of about 12 people. After a short while, dark clouds started to form and this made residents scared that it was going to rain and after a short while, it strong winds started and this made the residents and the chairman decided that the meeting be postponed to another day. Tom appreciated them based on what he had seen as he moved around the village and encouraged them to continue encouraging one another to improve on there sanitation and hygiene standards. After Tom left for jinja.
