Notes
Harriet and Irene made a surprise visit to this village and this was I intended to assess the progress of the program. They walked around the homes and found all the people with stoves cooking on them on daily basis and this was evidenced by finding food cooking by itself in some homes as the women were busy in the gardens planting seeds. Also the absence of three traditional cooking stoves were absent in the kitchens meaning that they had no any other option for cooking other than the modern stoves that Kibo helped them build. It also interesting to see all the home facilities and the stoves well smeared . Also some members who never had kitchens had built them and the community built for them stoves. The interesting part of the trip there was a a stubborn family (Athieno John)that had refused to participate in the program. But after the community learning how to build stoves and the value of loving one another they decided to build for them a stove even if they did not participate in the program. They said it was a sign of showing God’s love. This attracted them to participate in the program. Kibo staff told the participants that Kibo is planning to have a general meeting with the community and discuss the way forward how the community will carry on the program after Healthy and Safe kitchen program phasing out. They agreed the meeting to take place on 20th March 2019. Harriet asked the community to mobilize all the members who participated in the Healthy and Safe kitchen program to attend.
