- Notes
- Suzan went to the village with the intention of monitoring the progress of the Healthy and Safe kitchen program.
Unfortunately when she arrived there, she found some committee members gathered at the meeting place who warmly welcomed her and later informed her of a sudden death that had taken place that day. And for that reason, most of the community members had left for the burial ceremony which was taking place a few kilometers away from their village.
Suzan felt sorry for their loss and kindly requested if she could accompany them to the home of the deceased so as to pay respect. The members were so glad on hearing that because it made them feel loved in times of happiness and sorrows. The members also suggested they first move around the village visiting a few homes then later proceed to the burial function. During the monitoring process, Suzan found most of the Healthy and Safe kitchen facilities well maintained except that some members were not using their energy saving stoves for cooking, saying that they would rather cook on them during public holidays than using them daily, fearing they would get spoilt so fast. Suzan humbly requested the present members to inform those absent to always use their saving stoves on daily basis so as to minimize the various challenges they faced while using the old three stones open flames for cooking.
Later on after monitoring the kitchen facilities, they went to the burial function and found most of the community members gathered and mourning. Suzan quietly exchanged greetings with the members and together mourned for the late who was a close relative to one of the members. She then requested the program chairperson to inform other members after the burial ceremony about the date and time that the next meeting would take place. She wished them well and left.
