Enock and Martin visited this village, to meet with the local leaders and discuss about the upcoming general meeting to carry out a triggering in open defecation. When we reached this community we walked to the Chairman LC1’s home where the meeting was going to take place. We also invite the VHTs to come for the meeting to discuss about the upcoming general discussion and triggering in open defecation. Unfortunately the Chairman was on the rushing to go for another meeting at the sub-county. We had a short conversation about what we shall need to them as leaders and most of all more effort in mobilizing the residents to come in big numbers. When encouraged them why it’s so important to have all the residents to come for the meeting and one of the reason is to get the real information from the wash team concerning poor sanitation and how to transform their village and homes. The leaders where so happy to hear that, we put more emphasis on leaders to first buy into the idea of transforming, changing their old ways from open defecation but construct good standard facilities.During the short meeting we also discussed the values of good standard facilities and sustainability of all the facilities as well as why it’s so important. We gave them a small on what we shall be doing. After the meeting, we walked around to also invite many people about the triggering session which will be constructed by the wash team Next week. The people in this community are responding positively and seem to be a good village.
