Notes
Introduction It was so good to be at Nawaikona Primary School today, Manuela went to that school to teach about life stories, this lesson is very important it enables the pupils to come up and share their stories, some of these stories are sad , fun and others are educative so during this lesson pupils tends to learn more from one another which is good. Also during this lesson pupils who are going through the same stories gain some courage because at that point they know they are not the only one facing the same problem. Overview when Manuela reached the school, she went to the headmistress office to sign in the teachers register book, after that she went to Life Skills class, she found pupils seated waiting for her, she started by asking the pupils about the previous lesson which they learnt, fortunately, pupils were able to remember and share all what they learnt last week, Manuela was so impressed with the pupils because when she asked a question almost all the pupils hands were up , so Manuela decided to make the pupils to cite what they learnt which was really good, meaning pupils understood well what they learnt previously. After all that Manuela introduced the new lesson, she told the pupils the importance of life story as a lesson in life skills curriculum, Manuela told the pupils her life story which was sad and at the same time educative, Manuela told the pupils that she comes from a family of two sisters and four boys, she is the second born, Life was hard for her at school because she comes from a poor family but her parents were hard working people her mothers was house wife and her dad was a teacher, during holidays Manuela and her siblings would work in the farm to raise money for school, Manuela told them for her to be who she is today was out of determination, basing on whatever situation was going through so she also encouraged the pupils to be strong and determined so that they can achieve what they want to be in feature. After that,Manuela asked the questions about her life story pupils were able to discuss with her, after that she asked for some volunteers to also share their life stories for example Dan a primary six pupils shared how life was hard for him in the hands of steps mothers, David share the story her mother told him about her life, Namaganda also shared about how life is hard for her living with a step dad insulting her all the time , Merembe started but she could not continue she was so down and she started to cry so Manuela had to come in console her. More pupils still wanted to share their stories but due to time she told the pupils that they will start from there in the next visit. Challenges, some of the pupils were so touched and they could not hold their tears during this lesson because some the stories which they were sharing is exactly what they are going through. Finally, Manuela encouraged the pupils to be strong, determined, good boys and girls to their parents or their guidance, she went on and told the pupils that such life are there and the only way is be strong and focus on their studies so that they live a better life tomorrow.
