Notes
Tom made a,visit to igerera village to check on sanitation and hygiene improvements through facility construction and improvements. When he arrived at the chairman’s place, he found when his neighbors were working on there latrine. It had collapsed to the heavy rains earlier so they were reconstructing the structure. Tom appreciated and thanked them for the work they were doing. They said after finishing the structure, they were going to roof it and also help their father to roof his latrine. Tom and the chairman moved around the village checking on what other residents were doing. In one home they found when a resident decided to demolish his old latrine and reconstruct a new structure on it. He said he did not feel right to put iron sheets on the old structure. He was improving on the structure so that it’s more stronger and even better. In other homes there were improvements on there latrines some through smearing while others were trying to put doors. In one home, in two homes, they found when the residents had finished roofing there latrines and were very thankful to kibo for the support with the iron sheets. One elderly woman was very thankful and happy for her newly roofed latrine with the iron sheets. She said she never thought her latrine would ever look so beautiful but she was happy that it was looking beautiful and stronger. The man from the neighboring home who also had roofed his latrine appreciated the support from kibo and said his intention is to even make his latrine much better by using the old iron sheets he had on his Latrine to make doors out of them so to put on his latrine. There were also reports of other residents who had started roofing but Tom and the committee members did not reach those homes due to time.
