Harriet went to Bupeni to introduce the Healthy and Safe kitchen program to the local leaders ofBupeni as well as discuss the most convenient time, date and venue for the meetings. She did not find him at his home but asked his wife to avail her with his phone. She reached him on phone and he was able to come back. Harriet briefly told him the goals and objectives of the Healthy and Safe kitchen program as eliminating smoke in the kitchen since with the fuel efficient stove a vent is created that takes smoke out and this will reduce the cases of chest and eye related diseases resulting from too much smoke caused by open flames. She added that the fuel efficient stoves cooks food fast because some one can be able to cook food and source at the same time ,saves time because a women who would go to look for firewood three times a day can go once a week because with the fuel efficient stove stoves some one can use two- three pieces of fire wood to cook food and sauce as well as reducing cases of fire accidents resulting from in controlled fire in the three stone fire compared to the fuel efficient stove where fire is contained inside. The chairperson was very excited for the program and said that he has faced so many cases in his office resulting from the three stone fire and these cases are domestic violence due to fire accidents and delayed food.he added that he has also handled cases of firewood thefts in his office and the culprits are women who are fined large amounts of money by the forest owners. At the end of the meeting the chairperson asked Kibo to meet his community on 3rd April 2019 and he promised to mobilize his community.
