Notes
Alex and Ida went to Sinde village purposely to have a meeting with the water user committee, village leaders and the sinde church of Christ leaders to try and settle a conflict that arose in the community and had created divisions between the church and the community and it had even gone to the extent of people threatening to dismantle the borehole and others threatened to put poison into the borehole. When Kibo got to learn about this, immediately a meeting was called to dig some facts and find out why this was happening in Sinde. The church leader from this local reported this to Henry and Alex when he had come to Jinja for bible college last week. Alex and Ida passed by the district and picked up the person in charge of all borehole maintenance from the district water office to go with them to the village. They managed to meet a group of about 35 people waiting including the borehole water user committee, village leaders, church leader and some water users. The man called Jacob that spoke about poisoning the water was present at the meeting. Everyone was called to open up freely and talk about what had caused this serious conflict in the village and they all spoke their minds. The church leader called John begun by saying the reasons that had caused all this and pointed out the people that had approached him not being happy with how the borehole was being managed by the committee, then also the water user committee had its time to speak before asking Jacob to say something about why he had talked about poisoning the water. Kibo staff Alex and Ida listened carefully to all the people as well the district hand mechanic before guiding the community to a way forward. A lot was discovered and some of which were that the church was being misguided and so the church leader was told to approach the right people concerned about the borehole. The water user committee need to also be transparent to the water users. Jacob was reminded to always sieve what to say instead of talking any thing that crosses his mind. The village leader was reminded also that he should always step up when anything bad has been heard in his village. It was also realized that Matilda , the chairperson of the water user committee and the church leader, John had some personal misunderstandings and needed to reconcile. At the end of it all there was reconciliation amongst all the people and they all promised to continue the working together for the good of their village and to all be responsible towards their borehole. The district hand pump mechanic, Hellen told the village to always visit the district water office Incase of any water problems because the office is open to all. Matilda and John even hugged each as a sign of unity and togetherness. Also Jacob asked for forgiveness. The village chairman man was left with a task to lead this reconciliation in his village and Kibo staff will go back to continue following up on what has been reached by all the people.
