- Ida and Irene went to Nabikenge and taught about recognizing diseases like std’s and uti’s.
After the review about roles and responsibilities, Irene started teaching about the diseases that can cause miscarriage among the sexually transmitted and urinary tract infections their causes and management.
After the discussion naikoba who had gotten five miscarriages and now had conceived for the sixth time asked if she can go ahead and put a stitch because the doctor had told her that her cervix was not tight enough to hold the babies to nine months.
Irene advised her to follow the doctor’s advice because the doctor had a reason as to why he told her to put a stitch.
Then several questions were asked by the other members and after the discussion one of the members who had a seventeen year old pregnant daughter in-law asked Irene the reason as to why her daughter visits the health center every week.
Irene requested to talk to her in private and during the talk Irene requested to have a look at the antenatal book then Irene discovered that she had tested HIV positive and was requested to visit again for a confirmatory test and to also test her nineteen year old husband she had not disclosed her status to the husband yet. Irene advised her to return to the health unit as advised and to deliver from the health center because she was a risk mother and to see the doctor Incase of any problem.
Then Irene and Ida planned to visit again on Friday to find out what the husband’s results were,the way forward and continued counseling and follow up on the mother.
