Notes
Tom was meant to make a visit to mpumiro village to demonstrate the construction of the new dish rack model. But while on his way, he received a call from the chairman of the village saying they had lost a person on the village an therefore it was not going to be possible for the people to gather for the demonstration as they were going to attend the burial. Therefore Tom made a decision to go to kishaike. On reaching in the village, Tom found when two of the committee members were sitting at the meeting place after he called them. Tom asked them about the progress of the sanitation and hygiene program in the village before they moved to the lower section of the village. One of the committee members from the upper section reported of two new latrines in his section as well as three new dish racks. He also reported of a new resident who recently moved to that area but has started on a new pit after the committee member approached him about having a latrine in his home. After sharing briefly, Tom and the residents made a visit to the lower section to see how the program is moving especially in facility constructions and improvements. When they reached the lower section they found in the chairman’s home a new pit under construction while his neighbor has a new latrine well constructed. There was also another pit being dug. Tom thanked the residents and encouraged them to continue working and improving on their homes. There was also a home of an elderly lady were there is a new pit and it’s fully done waiting to be constructed on. There was also a home with a new dish rack on the lower section that the committee members recently constructed for the resident. Tom thanked the committee members for taking up the initiative to help the rest of the residents have better dish racks. The committee members said the dish racks are better that the ones that have been constructing. Tom and the committee members came back to the meeting place and spoke about the way forward for the coming week. The committee members said they will continue with the construction of dish racks guiding and helping residents how to construct them .
