Notes
Tom made a visit to igerera village to check on facility constructions as well as roofing of latrines. Tom was also checking in hand washing improvements through the construction of hand washing stands. When Tom arrived in the village, he moved around on the upper section before moving to the lower section to meet with the chairman. On the upper section he was joined by one committee member from the upper section. They started off from the section near the main road at the Church. This church is where the chairman ministers at. Tom and the committee member found when they had constructed and roofed the latrine. From the church they moved to another home of a young man who recently got married. They found when he had roofed his newly constructed latrine. When he saw Tom and the committee member, he ran to them and he just wanted to appreciate what kibo has done in his village. He said because of the sanitation and hygiene program, he was encouraged to also construct a better house. He said that now since the house is done and the latrine, his next work in his home was to start on the kitchen. He had already collected poles and materials for roofing. From there they went to the home of the elderly woman whom they found when her son had helped her roof the latrine for her while her neighbor had also finished the roofing of his new latrine. Tom encouraged him to help his son as his son is yet to finish the digging and constructing of the latrine and later roofing it. From the upper section they moved to the lower section were they met the chairman and one other committee member. On the lower section they found a newly constructed latrine with a new hand washing stand constructed next to the latrine with a jerican. Three of his neighbors had also finished roofing there latrines. In the section from the chairman’s home, there were three homes one with a new latrine while one had roofed and another was yet to roof his Latrine. Tom and the chairman encouraged them to finish the facilities and to help there father who has a latrine to finish. The chairman said after working on the roofing campaign of the latrines, he will then focus on the hand washing and after, he will visit kishaike village to see how the village has promoted the dish rack construction and after he will come and apply the same concept in his village. After the discussion Tom left for jinja.
