- Notes
- Ida and Irene went to Bupeni and introduced a poultry lesson. Irene did the preview and the community answered well the questions.
As usual Ida asked if there was any one who didn’t know chicken, no one raised their hands which showed that they all know what a chicken is. She continued with the question “what is chicken? No one could explain what a chicken is but could only point at it or tells what it does.
Ida gave a history of how grand parents used to teach children how to save. Grand parents used to give little chics which were to be raised by grand children for sometime. While giving the chic, the recipient was to raise that chic until she/ he will get a goat, cow even paying bride price.
Ida introduced the lesson and how they will be conducted. The lesson is divided in three sub topics.
a. Hatching
b. Raising
c.feeding
Hatching will include helping chickens to look for laying spots, marking of eggs, sorting eggs etc.
The community loved and enjoyed the lesson, thanked Kibo for teaching them skills and are ready to adopt all changes.
