Irene went to Nabikenge to continue with disease recognition specifically Hepatitis B and as usual started with a review of the previous lesson then after introduced the lesson. Irene then asked the members what they understand by the word or when someone talks about hepatitis? Nabirye said it’s the disease that makes someone’s eyes yellow, Naikoba said it’s the disease that eats up the stomach organs. Irene thanked them for the ideas they had about the disease. Louisa said that it’s a disease that affects Hippos and is caused by dirty water. Irene thanked the participants because it takes courage to raise hands and give answers . Irene then explained that hepatitis refers to the inflammation of the liver, the different types that included A,B,C,D and E, how each can be spread but dealing basically with hepatitis B.how it’s spread and prevention. At the end of the lesson Irene requested the members to ask questions regarding the lesson. Musa asked if the vaccines are safe because no one has explained to them the benefits of getting vaccinated, another asked what happens if they only get one dose and many more questions. Irene also explained to them to visit the health centers to get free vaccinations because the Government has provided them for free. Kiribaki asked if they should stop hugging and shaking hands, Irene answered and said hepatitis cannot be transmitted through hand shakes and hugs and Irene also encouraged them to pass on the message to the other community members encouraging them to get vaccinated.
