Notes
Alex was in Kagulu for a meeting with the new water user committee and conduct a training with them about their roles and responsibilities. Alex first visited the new borehole to make sure it had dried very well after the recommended two weeks by the contractor and to check the new fence whether it meets the standards as the community had earlier on been guided by Alex. He found that the size of poles used were very good but it required to add more poles in the big gaps to add more strength to the fence. Also the soak pit will have to be filled up with stones and the grass planted on the borehole compound. The water user committee promised to spend the Tuesday 14/05/2019 to complete what is remaining. Alex then had a meeting with all the water user committee training them more about their individual responsibilities and prepare for the commissioning of the new well. Each committee member now understands whist he/she has to do but the main point is to work to guide the community on better management of the well. They all appreciated Kibo for even training them on how to manage their well when they start to use very soon and what is expected of them. They were urged to be transparent enough and manage the borehole funds well. A discussion shall be held on how to keep the borehole funds whether to open up a bank account or save it in other ways. Together they has a discussion about how to go about commissioning their new borehole and they were all happy to have a day for commissioning their borehole, it was agreed that Monday 20/05/2019 will be the official opening of the borehole. The bylaws were to be discussed but unfortunately this wasn’t done because there was another meeting taking place at the village mosque and this took many people. It was agreed that another general meeting take place on 15/05/2019 to discuss and come up with the borehole bylaws before the village starts to use their well soon.
