Notes
Tom made a visit to igerera A village to check on sanitation and hygiene improvements especially through the construction of facilities such as latrines, dish racks, showers etc. when he arrived in the village, he found the chairman and some of the committee members waiting at the trading center. Soon after Tom arrived, they started moving around the village. They started off from the trading center section. They started off from the back section where they found two new latrines. There was also one latrine they found when the residents were in the pit digging. They were at a depth of about 4Ft. Tom and the committee members encouraged them and appreciated them for the work they were doing. After they moved to other homes where they found when the facilities were being improved especially the showers facilities. They found one shower facility that they had constructed and increased on the height. They moved across the road to another section of the trading center where they also found red digging the pit. The residents openly said that it was good for them to have latrines but they felt ashamed that it took an organization like kibo to go to there village to tell them to dig and have latrines. The owner of the home said he felt ashamed that Tom and the committee members had to go to his home to tell him tom dig the latrine. He promised to finish his latrine before Tom goes back to his home again. Tom and the committee members thanked the resident for the work he was doing to help improve on his home’s sanitation and hygiene. They also encouraged him to work even on other facilities after he is done with the latrine. In the neighboring homes, Tom saw two newly constructed latrines. One of them was an existing latrine that they improved upon while the other was also one that they had started on earlier before triggering but after triggering, the resident went and started working in it to get it finished. Tom thanked the committee members for the work they are doing and encouraged them to continue encouraging there fellow residents to get there village clean. Tom after left for jinja.
