Notes
Introduction Manuela went to Kivule village to teach the community members about the dangers of Alcohol, but she did not teach that because, when Manuela reached the the village, she found when people are not in good moods of learning more especially the men because they see hunger ahead simply because they don’t have rain, this village has been for a while without rain. After sometimes, the community members realized that there is a certain bird which has died and it’s the reason why they have not been having rain fall in that community that is their belief. Overview Menstrual hygiene and management is a very good lesson to be taught to both girls and mothers, after Manuela realizing that men may not be her in class for that day, she decided very first to mobilize women and teenage girls in that village to come and learn, women and girls were able to come, Manuela started by introducing what menstrual hygiene is , she said that menstruation is a normal flow of blood that any female experiences every month, it is not a sickness or curses as some people think. She advised the mothers not to fear talking about their experience while in their periods. While teaching the group, Manuela started by telling the members that there are some signs and symptoms that indicates that some one is soon going to receive her periods for instance signs like, stomach pain, back pain, headache and fever, after Manuela telling them all that, then she also taught them how to manage pain during periods, Manuela advised the group to to take pain killers, but they should use water bottle, put their legs in warm water and lay on their backs , Manuela told them that if all measures fails then they can go to the hospital. After that, Manuela taught community members how to fold their materials which they use while in their periods, Manuela told them that hygiene matters a lot during that time because if they don’t wash those materials properly they will smells, she went on and told-them that if they fold those materials properly they will not expect any stains on their clothes and after using the clothes they should wash those clothes properly, they should spread it under sun shine and they should iron it so that to kill the games. After that, Manuela demonstrated to the members how to fold the piece of materials, after that, Manuela requested one of the girls to come and demonstrate In front of other members. Finally, Manuela encouraged mother to advices their daughter to be smart and they should not avoid school because periods are normal.
