Notes
Alex B met forty five members and discussed how they will care or manage the goats they will receive from kibo group. Mande one of the members suggested that each member should build a shelter where the goat can be kept during day time .The shelter should have a roof to protect the goat from rain, sunshine and even that will protect anything accessing the goat.Sarah told the members that, the structure will also be used for the goat to stay during night, therefore the owner must be conscious about the security of the goat. She also said a good ventilation should be provided for enough fresh air. They also suggested that members should be be mindful where they will be grazing their goats to avoid them being stolen. The goats should be put on ear tags for identification from the rest of other goats in the community. They also suggested to those who plan to rare goats on zero grazing should plant pastures for them like elephant grass. Alex B told advised to them to be deworming their goats. He also advised them always to keep the places where they will be staying clean. To save some money aside to take care of treatment in case they are sick . He told them to visits one another to guide each other to ensure that, they are getting ready for the goats. They will be learning from from each other how to construct and the size of the shelter and the structure. He advised them to make floor a slanting floor to allow urine to get out so that the place remains dry. Grazing places should not be much isolated as it may expose the goats to be problems like being stolen. It should be the owner of the goat to check on them from time to time. Fidah the chairperson of the group thanked members for turning up for the meeting. She asked them to make their home ready for the goats.
