- Notes
- Jessica and Suzan went to the village to assess the level of sustainability in the healthy and safe kitchen facilities like stoves, kitchens, latrines, bathrooms, dish racks and find out challenges Incase they were there.
However this was a surprise visit mainly to see if the program facilities were being used effectively or not. When they got there, they met one of the community members together with other members sitting under a tree busy plucking their ground nuts that they had picked from the gardens.
The members welcomed Kibo staff and after a few minutes of discussions about the activities carried out so far, they all got up and began visiting home to home while monitoring the program facilities. Most homes had improved on their hygiene and sanitation and their home facilities well maintained.
The members also commented on the stoves saying how they have greatly changed their lives in a way that they no longer suffered from smoke inhalation and other diseases, also they spent little time searching for firewood in the bush because the stove only consumed less firewood yet it also cooked so fast. Some members had also started building stoves for those who didn’t have, making it one of their income generating activity.
While others were found busy repairing some of their facilities such as the shower areas and kitchens since the heavy rains had destroyed most of them.
Kibo staff thanked all the members for maintaining their general sanitation and hygiene facilities and encouraged them to always continue with the same spirit of working together for an effective development. The members thanked Kibo staff for the love they showed to them and wished them a safe journey back home.
