- Notes
- Tom went to the village of kishaike to hold a meeting with the village leaders and sanitation and hygiene committee members to discuss about issues in the village. They met at the borehole area and discussed about the issue of managing money being collected for the nails and iron sheets as well as cement.
There had been issues with in the committee members about one resident who they feel is wanting to take the leading role in collecting money yet some committee members don’t trust him doing so.
They accused him of miss using funds that some residents had contributed for the nails and gave them smaller and fewer nails that they felt were not enough for the construction of standard dish racks.
Tom thought the issue was resolved from the previous meeting but it had not been solved.
The committee members decided that shared responsibilities would be the best solution and therefore advised the other committee member accepted to give up the responsibility of collecting and handling funds to other committee members.
The chairman of sanitation and hygiene committee also encouraged the rest of the committee members to always be exemplary especially when it comes to sanitation and hygiene facilities. He pointed out some committee members from the lower section who up to now don’t have latrine and urged them to have there latrines finish as well as other facilities if they are to feel comfortable talking to other residents about sanitation and hygiene improvements.
Tom also emphasized the same point and appreciated them for taking up the innovative to solve problems in the committee
