Notes
Tape and Jeska went to kalitumba village to teach the community members how to build the energy saving stoves. When they arrived there, they found the members gathered at one of their member’s homes preparing the materials that were going to be used for building the stove. The members happily welcomed kibo staff and together they fetched the dirt from the termite hill, carried it near the kitchen compound and kibo staff measured the required amount of the dirt and grass while mixing it. The members joined in stamping the dirt until it got ready for building the stove. Kibo staff requested the members to watch critically as they built a demonstration stove. Tape and Jeska built the stove while explaining each step to the members because most of them had not yet learnt. They were also encouraged to keep asking questions during the building process, for this would enable them learn easily. And after building the first stove, they walked together to a second home and built a second demonstration stove. This was also carried out by kibo staff while the members watched and asked questions. Two stoves were finally built on that day and the members danced and sang songs of joy, praising and thanking kibo group for the program introduced to them. Kibo staff thanked all the members for participating in the activity and the meeting came to an end after they both agreed on the date that the next meeting would take place.
