- Notes
- Suzan,Jessica and Tape went to the lower side of the village to guide the participants in building their own fuel efficient stoves. When they arrived there, they went to one of the homes where the stove was going to be built and found the members already gathered with the materials at place.
They welcomed Kibo staffs with songs of joy and then went ahead and stamped the dirt together which had already been collected from the termite hill. They sang and danced throughout until the dirt got ready which was then carried into the kitchen.
The members first took measurements on the floor and placed the two saucepans just to make sure they were at the right position, then went out and cut the banana stems. After, they went back into the kitchen and began building the stove with everyone participating in each step. Kibo staff kept on guiding them throughout the building process because it enabled them master the skills easily without being left behind.
The members also kept on asking questions where they seemed to be stuck especially while fixing the banana stems to make entrances. Kibo staff also requested them to always maintain their stoves such as smearing them to avoid cracks which would destroy them and to improve on their general sanitation and hygiene by repairing their dish racks , tippy taps and smearing their houses.
Two stoves were successfully built by the members that day under the guidance of Kibo staff.
The members thanked them for the lessons, wishing them a safe journey back home.
